Seascape in oils

After a few years away from any artwork, recently I returned to drawing and oil painting. This is a newly finished seascape in oils from my time on vacation on the island of Maui in Hawaii a year ago.

The sea shore scene evokes a typically windy afternoon looking away from Ma'alaea Harbor towards Lanai island. I found Maui to be a beautiful and unique place and I hope to return to spend a little more time windsurfing and relaxing in the sea. I'll have to do some more saving first though because everything on Maui is quite expensive and a car is a necessity if you want to do any sightseeing into the wilds of the interior.

Oil Painting

I am so enjoying drawing and painting again that I have now begun a new oil painting, this time a winter landscape of the olive groved mountains in the Alicante interior region. I have chosen to paint a winter scene with a little snow on the ground as a refreshing and peaceful look on the Spanish countryside.

I have begun learning some of the classical painting techniques such as painting in layers and have been attempting to incorporate them into my work "a mi aire", that is, interpreting them my way "con todo respeto".
