Woman shows off baby stolen from womb

Yahoo! News - Kansas Woman Said to Show Off Stolen Baby

A small-town woman strangles to death a pregnant lady in order to take her baby from her womb and call it her own. Does it sound like the plot of the latest Hollywood thriller? It's not.

It really happened, just now.

It was planned well ahead: announced and played out as a pregnancy during numerous months before the crime. A likely candidate victim was searched out, contacted and wooed to gain easy entrance to the home at a the right moment, eight months pregnant. Then there was post childbirth public presentation of the new-born to others as her own.

What made her do such a thing? A thing all the more incomprehensible as it constitutes a homocide against a woman by a woman.

Maybe it's the effect of watching too many movies and tv...

Could it be just another side-effect of prolonged use of birth control pills?

Is it rather the desperate act of a hopelessly childless woman?

Or is it an overwhelming hormonal impulse to become a mother before the biological clocks runs out?

Is it a physical side effect of menopausal maniac depression?

Is such barbary born of a violence numbed indifferent society for whom the neighbor is to be looked upon as a source of lucre or an obstacle to be removed?

But, wait! This woman is the mother of two high school children, married and living in a little town in Kansas. It's hard to fathom.

What made her and 1,367 other women who have murdered pregnant women and new mothers since 1990, commit such a crime against nature? What made her do it?
