a wholesale client

I found a good local supplier in february, I got my first retail order early March. Since then I've begun advertising in paginasamarillas telephone book and online as well as doing googleadwords.

On Thursday this week, I landed a wholesale client.

I almost missed meeting with him at all because I was out doing purchases on my lunch hour when he called. He said he was coming for a quote in 30 minutes.thinking quickly, from previous phone contact, I know this guy is driving 6 hours from the south to get here, so no way can I tell him to come later. Besides I need customers.

So I drop what I'm doing to rush back to the shop, but not directly because I had left the shop keys at home and will need to pass by my apt. Now I never take my car out during the week, never go out on my lunch hour. I eat at home. But as luck would have it, I had taken my car today and of course now I couldn't find parking. (Adrenaline Rising...) Also, the guy keeps cell phoning as he approaches town and could I guide him.

I finally "abandon ship" in a parking garage accross the street from my apt. His repeated cell phone calls for directions tells me he's almost there. As I rush upstairs to get the workshop keys from my apt, I'm spelling the street name to the guy on my cell,...very slowly. LOL

Then I sprint back to my workshop, working up a sweat in the suddenly balmy afternoon, thinking: this guy is costing me stupid parking fee in front of my house, probably won't order anything, and there goes more money down the drain...blah, blah, blah. On his last cell call I told him I'd just parked and will meet him in front. I find him waiting outside. I take him into the building where the main hall lights have been out since this morning (Can you believe my luck). It's windowless so I get out my keychain penlight to find the keyhole to my office, and ask him to excuse the darkness while I fumble around.... Good Grief Charlie Brown, talk about swimming upstream.....LOL Fortunately my workshop lights up like an electric power station and everybody relaxes.

Anyway he liked my price quotes, asked for a demo stitchout of a couple designs on kevlar and sailcloth which he liked and we made a deal for regular 100-200 piece orders. Wow
